According to the Spanish Constitution of 1978, the State has exclusive competence in civil matters, except in those territories where special foral civil rights exist. In these cases, the Autonomous Communities that have such special rights will also have competence in civil matters. Specifically, in the national territory there are six Communities that have their own civil regulations, which must be taken into account when consulting this type of matters. These are Galicia, the Basque Country, Navarre, Aragon, Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.
